Differentiate vCenter instances per PSC instance

I have two PSC servers in one domain. I have connected 8 vCenter Servers to this domain.

4 VCs are conencted to one PSC and 4 to another. How to check which is connected where locally from PSC?

When i remove the "findstr" i could compare SSL, but i can see one SSL is connected to vCenters that are on different PSC, so it's wrong way.

Не подключается DataStore после отключения света

Доброго времени суток!

 

Читал много, ответа не нашел. Постараюсь кратко объяснить суть проблемы и надеюсь на вашу помощь, господа.

 

Был скачек напряжения в сети, после отключение питания. Упсы не выдержали и сервер некорректно выключился.

 

Сервер (ESXi 5.0, который был установлен на RAID 10 (6 дисков - "stripe в зеркале" - скорость и надежность))

 

После того как сервер запустился, ВМ не поднялись в автоматическом режиме, более того, при попытке запустить их из VSphere Client появлялась ошибка - конфигурационный фаил не найден.

 

В логах написало, что два диска имееют непонятный статус. К сожалению не посмотрели какой был статус DataStore. Сделали перезагрузку ESXi.

В итоге райд контроллер (HP410) написал, что один из дисков заменен неправильно и поэтому райд контроллер отключил все диски, во избежание потери информации.

Потом начались танцы с бубном, диски заменили, райд поднялся.

 

Но при загрузке выдало такое сообщение:

No hypervisor found

Установили на флешку Debian и поставили vmfs-tools чтобы скопировать ВМ (как в этой статье http://woshub.com/how-to-access-vmfs-datastore-from-linux-windows/)

У нас vmfs5, уверены на 90%. Но увы vmfs-tools не показал, что на последнем, большом разделе есть vmfs.

 

Дальше установили по новой ESXi, но уже на SD карту в материнке сервера.

При сканировании на наличие DataStore ничего не находилось.

После была попытка посмотреть, есть ли хранилище и подключить его с командной строки

Диск наш виден - последний на 2.7 Тб

Смотрим, что есть на диске

И видим большой раздел с vmfs

 

Команда vmkfstools -Vничего не изменила... Также как и многократные пересканирования через VSphere Client. Итог нулевой - вроде как видит, что что-то есть, но не видит, что это DataStore и подключить его не может.

 

Установили на дополнительный жесткий диск, подключенный к серверу, Windows 7. Попробовали прогнать диск с помощью R-Studio (народ писал, что хорошо помогает восстановить), но увы файлы (базы 1с и документы) он все увидел и их структуру, но они оказались битыми.

 

Установили WMWare Workstation и приатачили сначала логический диск с разделом vmfs, а потом и весь физический диск(на RAID). Увы esxi в виртуалке DataStore не увидел также.

 

Попробовали проверить DataStore через voma - итог никакой

Восстановление удаленного vmfs раздела, так как больше ничего пока не приходит в голову, но решил спросить грамотных людей, может еще что посоветуют, чтобы подмантировать этот раздел как DataStore.

PS.: при скачке напряжения вылетел также один из дисков, куда сливались бэкапы (дело было ночью, как раз во время их содания и копирования), поэтому удалось восстановить из резервных копий около 70% информации.

Firstly, Thanks a lot for Reply Bill.

 

I resolved this problem after 1 hour and forgot to mention here . The problem was because of a mistake in my command.

 

I was typing

 

etc/init.d/ hostd restart

 

There was a space  between / and host due to which it was showing permission denied error.

Vmware Mirage 5.3

I'm trying to install vmware mirage 5.3 on windows 2012 server but I get the error that you see in the image : failed executing Sql command - IDspatch error #3127

I try with sql express 2014 and 2008, but I have the same problem.

high point rocket raid 2320 and esxi5.5U2

ok so i'll get this out of the way now. I know the card is not on the hcl list.

I have been able to get it to work creating a driver for esx 4.1

I'm looking for either the instructions, or the driver the card is a hp rr2320. no I'm not interested in buying another card. this is possible to do I just forget how I did it last time other then the 25+ hrs of searching for the solution. I have already downloaded the centos version of the driver

can someone please help.

Hi

 

i have a question

 

i have to migrate all of my vmware horizon but for example my domain name is now a.com but i have to migare it to new domain b.comit means my domain name and ip adress will be change also connectios server ip adress vcenter ip adress  now i want to know if my domain name and ip adress change and also all of my vm and vcenter and ... change  will vmware horizon work after these changes ?

How to run vcregtool.sh for vCSA 6.0

Hi,

I upgraded vCenter Server Appliance from 5.5 to 6.0. After the upgrade I changed the hostname. Unfortunately now Inventory Service and VPXD doesn't start anymore.

In logs I can see that there are errors:

Failed to connect to SSO service

Call to lookup service failed

with old hostname urls.

 

I believe I could re-register vCenter Inventory Service to vCenter Server Appliance but it seems that vcregtool.sh doesn't work any more the same way as it's documented here for 5.5: VMware KB: vCenter Inventory Service fails to start in vCenter Server Appliance 5.x .

I also couldn't find any documentation from VMware for 6.0.

 

Do you know how to run this script properly for 6.0?

Be careful with non-english Windows guests on ESXi 6

Bonjour

 

Recently upgraded all the 5.0 servers to 6.0 (by adding a SD-Card to boot from).

 

I also ran the new vmtools on all the guests. But on one of the hosts a few guests vmtools did not install. It started rolling back after removing backup files. The affected guests where all non-english (dutch). So I tried all sorts of possible solutions, to no avail.

 

Anyway, the problem was kinda solved by using the latest vmtools from version 5.5. You can download them here: Index of /45848/tools/esx

I'll wait for new release of VMtools and report back. There is no KB on this issue at this moment I believe.

 

Symptoms: Rolling back at the end of the installation and from vCenter a VIX error 20029 I think (don't remember exactly)

I am on a task to install VMware ESXi 5.5 on a dell poweredge r610 and create a few linux VMs.

I have a vague idea of how to implement this.

I have no hands-on experience working with servers or either ESXi.

 

What would be the best approach to this task?

Looks like you have configured the pool for vSGA but installed the driver for vGPU.

If you want to use vGPU then you need to configure that on the pool settings.

 

You also need to use Horizon View 6.1.

I see you only have the choice of setting a start time and hours for backup windows. How would I set it up so that backups can run all day on Saturday and Sunday?

Seeding a replication/backup in VDP?

Is it possible to seed a replication? I'd like to set up a replication across a slow WAN and I'm estimating that it would take roughly around 200 hours. With a backup window of 10 hours each night, I would assume it will take around 20 days to completely replicate the backups. Is there a way I can seed the replicate site so that it wouldn't take so long?

PSModulePath missing default folder after PowerCLI 6 installation

On a fresh install of Windows 8.1, the '%userprofile%\Documents\WindowsPowerShell\Modules' folder is included in $env:PSModulePath.  After installation of PowerCLI 6.0 I see that folder is no longer included.  This breaks people who have installed modules under their Documents directory.

 

The problem is linked to Environment variables.  A fresh install of Windows has a SYSTEM PSModulePath variable defined but no USER one.  In this situation PowerShell appears to silently add '%userprofile%\Documents\WindowsPowerShell\Modules' to $env:PSModulePath.

 

If you create a USER PSModulePath variable then this silent behavior changes.  The PowerCLI 6.0 installer does create a USER PSModulePath variable if one does not already exist.

 

This behavior is also called out near the bottom of this blog posting:  https://www.sapien.com/blog/2012/05/22/psmodulepath-discrepancies/

 

I'm not sure what the best way is for the PowerCLI 6 installer to address this.  Perhaps it can be added to the release notes at least.

To add to this, passing ALLUSERS=1 to the installation, still adds to the user environment variable.

All I had to do, after changing SSO back to embedded was:

 

1. Add the AD identity source back in

2. Re-assign the required AD users/groups local group membership in vCentre

 

Now to plan the upgrade to 6.0

Unfortunatly, VMWAre doesn't care to allow USB3 to function under Windows 7.

 

It's not that it cannot be done.. Parallels and Oracle's VirtualBox run USB3 under Windows 7 just fine. In fact, Parallels has had this down for years now. Parallels simply made the USB3 VM Host Bridge compatible with Intel's USB 3 Host bridge driver and that works just fine. They didn't even need to make a driver..

 

This is as it is because of VMWare doesn't care.. plain and simple. Sadly, my place of employment, like many, are avoiding Windows 8, so I need to keep with their corporate image and thats Windows 7. Sucks that VMWare, a 'corporate' focused company is so out of touch of what it's own customers are likely to need. Businesses, for the most part, have avoided Windows 8. With Windows 10 toward the end of the year, I'm hoping I can at least upgrade then..

 

This to me just says how out of touch (years worth) VMWare is. We shouldn't even need to be asking for this; USB 3 simply should have been built in. /shrug
